CONTEMPORARY ARCHITECTURE IN THE LANDSCAPES OF SOUTH AFRICA

sharpCITY is negotiating with publishers at present to conclude a deal for the publication of a book on the projects presented at the Biennale 2005 exhibition.

The book will be a celebration of the best and most relevant projects that have been constructed in South Africa in the recent past, and is a publishing first in the world. The book will broadly be based on the project selection shown here, and will in addition include essays by South African urban academics, thinkers, critics, and landscape enthusiasts. The book will take the form of a 'country monograph' and will become the first in a planned series of reference works on the developing story of South African architecture.

It should be available in South African by the second quarter of 2006, and internationally through selected outlets and via the internet.

sharpCITY is a content provider for architectural and urban culture galleries and institutions located across the globe.

We are able to curate relevant, critical and focused exhibitions based on previous work or in co-ordination with curated shows commissioned by galleries or institutions. We are also able to participate in conferences, debate forums, and workshops around the issues our exhibitions have addressed. We would also be interested in exchanging exhibitions with other institutions, by trading our content for international content to be showcased in Johannesburg or other South African cities.
